It was a winning week for the Willows High junior-varsity boys, who captured wins over Durham Jan. 27 and Pierce Jan. 29.

The Honkers rebounded from a poor first quarter to post a 20-5 scoring advantage in the second quarter, building up a 28-17 lead at the break and cruising to a win at home.

Everyone on the Willows roster scored in the contest, with Alex Alves taking top honors with 21 points, including 4-of-5 from the line. Nathan Boys pitched in with eight, Anderson Thao and Bryce Jones each added six, and Rodrigo Raygoza tacked on five.

Raygoza, Alves, and David Bill each found the bottom of the net one from long distance.

Alves led the scoring with 12 points, but Ryan Amaru exerted his precense on both ends of the floor, scoring 11 points and also swatting away at least 10 shots for a double-double. Thao and Raygoza both hit the 10-point mark, and Boyd finished with nine.

"We had very balanced scoring and another good defensive game," said coach Richard Welsh.
