Honkers compete in SVL track meet, girls take 2nd

The Willows High School track team competed in a seven-way dual at Durham on Wednesday and had several runners come home with first-place finishes.

Chantal Vanderbilt claimed first place in the varsity girls 100 meters and also took second in the 200 meters. Meanwhile Karlee Welsh won both the 1600 and the 3200 meter runs.

For the varsity boys, Andrew Carmon won the high jump and Chris Gomes moved up from the junior varsity to take first place in the 3200 meters.

For the JV boys, Jesse Schuller was first in the 110 meter high hurdles.

The Honkers finished fifth in the varsity boys division and the junior varsity boys division.

The Honkers also finished second in the varsity girls division and took seventh in the junior varsity girls class.

Willows will compete in the Sacramento Valley League championships this week.
