Honker teams sweep Live Oak Lions

Will Enos allowed one run on two hits and struck out 12 to lead the Willows High School baseball team to a 3-1 win over Live Oak on Tuesday.

The junior pitcher allowed both hits in the fourth inning when the Lions scored their lone run. Otherwise, Enos was unhittable while fanning a dozen Lions and walking just two.

The Honkers, meanwhile, got a pair of RBI from Kent Thayer and an RBI double from Will Clark to score their runs. Thayer singled in the third inning to plate Brian Wunsch. Thayer then doubled in the fifth to score Wunsch again.

Clark doubled in the sixth to score Tyler Ward with the final run.

Nathan Michaud, Cody Guenther and freshman Seth Fleming each had a basehit for the Honkers.

Willows is 7-17 overall and 3-7 in Sacramento Valley League play. The Honkers await their seed for the Division 3 playoffs, which start May 9.

The Willows High School softball team bounced back from a doubleheader sweep by the Colusa Redskins to shutout the league-leading Live Oak Lions 8-0 on Tuesday.

The win prevented Live Oak from capturing a share of the league title with the Redskins, who topped Durham to finish 7-2. Live Oak ends the season at 6-3 while Willows is fourth in the league at 4-5.
