Lady Honkers top Pierce at home
Morgan Hughes' 20 points and Ally Brunner's double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds propelled Willows High to a 59-49 home win over Pierce on Tuesday.
Hughes found her mark from behind the arc four times, with Alyssa Beatty, Kaylin Jones and Baneli Lomeli also landing 3-pointers over the top of the Bears defense.
The Lady Honkers led 34-24 to begin the second half, and put any necessary padding to their lead by outscoring the visitors 12-6 in the third quarter.
Nine different players contributed to Willows' scoring column, with Beatty notching six points, Jones adding five and Lexy Weber, four.
The Lady Honkers also distributed the ball well, with five different players recording a pair of assists.
Macey Cox led the Bears with 19 points that included 5 of 8 from behind the three-point line, and Ellen Hansen followed with 12 points.
Willows finished their regular season with an overall mark of 18-7, and finished second in the Sacramento Valley League at 10-2.
