Willows slays Lions for road win
Sophomore guard Morgan Hughes knocked down 18 points and the Lady Honkers outscored Live Oak High in every quarter on Tuesday to post a dominant 52-31 win on the road.
Hughes reached double figures in scoring for the seventh time in nine games with the help of four 3-pointers, and upped her scoring average to 12.6 points per game.
Ally Brunner also reached double digits with 12 points, and was followed by eight points from sophomore Baneli Lomeli and seven by Kaylin Jones, who also landed a trey.
Brunner led the rebounding effort with 10 boards for her fifth double-double of the season, and also snuffed a pair of shots.
Lomeli and Alyssa Beatty each made four steals, with Beatty also dishing out five assists.
Willows (6-4, 1-0 Sacramento Valley League) is on the court in Orland for this weekend's Lady Trojan Classic.
