Orsua stays unbeaten in mixed martial arts bouts

Former Orland High School wrestler John Orsua is still competing on the mat, only this mat has a cage around it.

Orsua recently competed in a mixed martial arts event at the Sockton Civic Memorial Auditorium, defeating Derek Easterling from Oakland Brazilian Ju-Jitsu by a technical knockout in the third round.

The event was put on by Pure Combat MMA.

Orsua, who represents the Orland Takedown Club, is now 3-0 in his career.

Orsua’s sponsors included R&R Sales, Orland Pizza Factory, Dicharry Construction, Iron Fist Manufacturing and Emplyer’s Investigative Services.

Orsua is coached by Victor Perry (wrestling), Francisco Murillo (boxing), Mike Olivera (training/motivation) and Erin Johnston (jui-jitsu).

Video of Orsua’s win over Easterling can be found on Orsua’s website at www.myspace.com/teamorsua.

Same-sex slapdown
What's your reaction to the state Supreme Court upholding the ban on same-sex marriage?
I'm glad to see the will of the majority of voters was supported.
I don't agree with it. Equal rights should be for all Californians.
