Orland meets Oroville on Friday
The 2008 football season begins on Sept. 5 for Orland and Willows High Schools, but they will get in one last practice scrimmage in this week.
The Orland Trojans will head to Oroville on Friday for an evening scrimmage. The event is the first of four straight road games for the Trojans who do not have lights at their newly refurbished stadium. Next week’s season opener will be at Durham instead of at Trojan Stadium.
The grass and track will be installed in the coming weeks and portable bleachers will be erected in preparation for the first home game on Sept. 26 against West Valley.
Willows will head to Hamilton City for a scrimmage with the defending Northern Section Division 3 champion Braves on Thursday afternoon.
The scrimmage will be the second one for the Braves, who also scrimmaged Pierce last week.
Princeton begins its season on Saturday at home against Liberty Christian. The Patriots are fielding an 8-man football team for the first time since 1979. Gametime is scheduled for 1 p.m.
In volleyball, Hamilton opens with Mt. Shasta on Thursday while Orland hosts Anderson on the same day.
Orland opened its season on Tuesday at home against Paradise.
Providence opened its season at home against Champion on Tuesday and will host Los Molinos on Thursday.
Princeton plays host to Williams next Tuesday while Elk Creek plays at Los Molinos on Sept. 2 and at home against Paradise Adventist on Sept. 3.
Orland plays Willows in tennis today in Willows. Both teams opened their season on Monday with Willows playing at Anderson and Orland hosting Paradise.
