Lady Trojans blank Honkers

Orland High's Yaneth Munoz accounted for all the scoring on Friday, as the junior midfielder notched a hat trick in the Lady Trojans' 3-nil victory over the Honkers in Willows.

Munoz scored her first goal just five minutes in, on a shot Willows coach Bud Ramirez said was misplayed. She netted her second in the 26th minute to send the Trojans into intermission holding a 2-0 lead.

Munoz put on the hat with her third goal in the 58th minute.

"We had a couple chances — one hit the post, and the other was on a breakaway but we missed wide," Ramirez said.

"Jennifer Chappell made some amazing saves," Ramirez continued, "I don't think I have ever had or seen a better goalkeeper as long as I have coached."

Orland junior keeper Clarisa Esquivel made four saves for her sixth shutout of the season, and Orland coach Tim Milhorn applauded the play of Cinthya Macedonio and Alondra Martinez.

Orland (11-3-1, 7-1-1 Butte View League) played in Winters on Tuesday and finishes off the regular season Thursday at Sutter. The Honkers (5-8-3, 3-3-1 Sacramento Valley League-One) played at Pierce on Tuesday and hosts Live Oak on Thursday.
