Lady Honkers outgun Rio Vista

Tuesday night might have felt to the Willows High girls basketball team like it was in a gunfight with an unarmed team, as the Honkers shot first and often for a 60-23 road win at Rio Vista.

Olivia Fleming dumped in 10 points in the first quarter and Lindsay Van Tol tacked on six as Willows went up 37-4 at halftime.

Van Tol finished with 14 points, and also contributing to the onslaught were Sashay Little (9), Colleen Tade (8), Katie Hansen (5) Brianna Brothers (3), Julie Sheats and Kori Bailey (two apiece) and Cathy Soneouthay (1).

The Lady Honkers eased their season record above the .500 mark at 10-9, and improved to 4-1 in the Sacramento Valley League.

Willows hosted Live Oak on Friday, and keeps its doors open next week for Colusa on Tuesday, and Durham Thursday.
