Honkers hoop it up against Rio Vista
Scoring balance key in home victory
An offense couldn't be much more balanced than was the Willows High boys basketball team's Tuesday, as it came within four points of having five players score in double figures in a 61-48 triumph in front of the home crowd.
Forrest Johnson lead the Honkers' scorers with 15 points, and Ryan Welsh followed with 13, with Johnson finding the range from three-point land thrice, and Welsh landing two long-range bombs. Forrest Bateman also topped the 10-point plateau with a dozen.
Narrowly missing the double-digit mark were Javier Raigoza and Vadym Samoylov, who finished with eight points apiece. Garrick Jones pitched in with five.
Willows shot just a tick under 50 percent from the line, making good on 10-of-21 free-throw attempts.
The Honkers (12-9, 4-1 Sacramento Valley League) took the court Friday in Live Oak.
In the upcoming week, Willows plays at Colusa Tuesday, and Durham Thursday.
