Willows wrestlers hold their own

Sure, the final score of Wednesday's wrestling dual meet with Durham was 54-33 in favor of the Trojans, but what the score doesn't reveal is how well the Honkers actually did in matches where they actually wrestled.

Needing to spot Durham 42 points with forfeits in seven weight classes, the Honkers took five of the seven matches held, with four of the matches being decided by pinfalls.

In the most hotly contested pairing of the evening, the Honkers Jeno Yang emerged with a 13-12 win over Lucas Gaeth at 112 pounds.

Willows' 135-pounder Aron Garcia followed up his championship win in the Corning Invitational by sticking Will Montgomery, with Jason Powell (145), Jared Stine (160) and A.J. Wagenman (171) also joining the pin patrol with falls over Bradley Hall, Tony Martinez and Zach Cunningham, respectively.

Jose Chavez (140) and Trevor Candelaria (215) each lost by pinfall.
