Lions advance with road ‘home’ win

While Providence Christian was playing without any true home court advantage - as its opening-round Division VI volleyball game was played in the Hamilton gymnasium - it did not stop them from getting down to business and doing it swiftly, sweeping the visiting Dunsmuir Tigers 25-17, 25-22, 25-21.

Jasmine Ball led the Providence attack by flooring 10 kills of the team's total of 27. Also joining in on the floor assault was Alexis Edmondson (6), Hannah Cleek (4), Rebekah Ball (3), and Alyssa Paterson and Marissa Ramirez accounted for two apiece.

Peterson also served up a pair of aces, with Edmondson and Ramirez each adding one.

The Lions advanced to play No. 2 seed Hayfork Tuesday.

Heading into play the Timberjacks sported a record of 21-2 and ran the table to win the NVL with a 10-0 mark.

Results of the match will appear in the Sports Friday.
