Willows High played less than gracious hosts to Esparto Thursday, and Salvandro Gonzalez got it going in the 11th minute, heading in a cross from Alexis Montoya. David Gonzales scored four minutes later off a rebound, and Giovani Gutierrez scored off a loose ball in the goalie area for a 3-0 lead.
Gonzalez scored both second-half goals for a hat trick and raised his season total to 11.

Diamonds wrap up fall season
The Glenn County Diamonds U-14 softball team competed in the "Toys for Tots" tournament in Yuba City December 3-4 to finish up the fall season. They were able to play due to the generous support of the Police Activities League (PAL), which sponsored the team for the tournament.
The Diamonds were 0-4 on the weekend but played solid in their last game and lost a close one to the Yuba City Explosion 6-3. Karina Perez pitched a complete game and struck out three while contributing at the plate with a single. Kat Taylor and Lainie Alves also had hits for the Diamonds.
In the first game of the tournament they lost to a tough Sutter Butte Thunder 12-2. Kat Taylor pitched a solid game striking out three. Lainie Alves, Tori Boschi and Karina Perez each singled, and Kassidy Millen had an RBI.
In the second game the Diamonds fell to the YC Explosion 21-4. Alves, Perez and Jesinia Rodriguez had the only hits for the Diamonds. Perez pitched a complete game and struck out five.
In Game 3, they fell to the SB Thunder 15-1. Cali Vasquez and Perez had the only two hits for the Diamonds. The pitching duties were shared with Taylor going the first two innings and Perez going the second two. They combined for four strikeouts.
Shawna Dollarhide, Ashlyn Gieger, Bella Boschi all played solid for the Diamonds, according to coach Robin Smith.
