Willows Kiwanis Club member George Coleman, left, a Willows Volunteers in Police Service member, and Kiwanis member Roy Michael teamed up with AAA on Friday to see 20 bicycle helmets got put on the heads of local youth. Kiwanis members rode in VIP patrol cars to provide a free helmet to any child they saw without the vital piece of safety equipment. Helmets are also available for youth ages 8 and up at the Willows Police Department. The free helmets are part of the promotion between AAA Northern California and the San Francisco Giants called the “AAA Triples for Bike Safety” program, in which AAA donates bicycle helmets to area organizations every time a Giants player hits a triple.
