Bartender arrested after breaking up fight
A Willows bartender was arrested Tuesday after she reportedly broke up a fight with a baseball bat.
Maria Lena Ibarra, 21, was arrested at her home around 4:30 a.m. on suspicion of assaulting a man with a deadly weapon, according to Willows police Chief Bill Spears.
Willows police and the California Highway Patrol were called to the Walnut Street bar shortley after 1 a.m. by Monique Vargas.
Police found a 28-year-old man lying in the street with a head laceration, Spears said. His name is being withheld under Marsy’s Law provisions.
Spears said Ibarra reportedly struck the man in the head with a wooden bat while he was in an altercation with a another man in the bar.
The injured man was transported to Glenn Medical Center, where he received several staples for a scalp wound and then released.
Ibarra was booked in Glenn County Jail on $25,000 bail.
