Rally Cross at Thunderhill Park
Spectators are free as Thunderhill presents the opening Rally Cross event of the summer starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
The event will begin Thunderhill’s rally season and be stop No. 2 in the 2008 Formula Rally-X (FRX) – Nor-Cal Championship. Top drivers from all over Northern California will compete for the FRX championship points. Timed runs will determine which driver negotiates the 0.9-mile, 30-turn dirt course the fastest.
Rally driving is a true test of driver skill because of the terrain it takes place on. The Rally Cross course at Thunderhill incorporates elevation changes as well as several banked turns. Close to 50 drivers are expected to compete in cars ranging from the Subaru STi, to the Mitsubishi Evo VIII, Mazda 323 GTX, and etc.
The event will be held at Thunderhill Raceway Park at 5250 Highway 162, Willows. Gates open at 7 a.m. with signups to 8 a.m. Racing commences at 8:30 a.m. with final runs expected at 4:30 p.m.
