Six arrested in gang sweep
Six arrests were made Thursday during a multi-agency planned sweep that emphasized gang suppression, according to the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.
Approximately fifteen law enforcement personnel from the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office, including two K-9 units and two Correctional Officers, probation, state parole, Glenn Inter-Agency Narcotics Task Force Agents, and a Willows P.D. officer participated in the sweep.
The strike team was deployed in two separate groups with specific targets in Hamilton City, which Deputy Brandy McDonald had developed, the Sheriff’s office said in a press release.
Sheriff Larry Jones was present during the operation and praised Deputy McDonald for preparing the operation and implementing the plan.
“This is a continuance of our relentless and sustained pressure on those who continue to ignore the terms and conditions of their probation or parole & participate in criminal activities,” Jones said in a prepared statement.
“Even though all law enforcement agencies in Glenn County are under tremendous budgetary constraints and personnel limitations, we will continue to find innovative ways to suppress criminal street gang activity,” Jones said.
There were probationers or parolees that were not located during the sweep and additional investigations continue.
Among items seized as evidence were marijuana and controlled substance smoking paraphernalia, gang related items, magazines for handguns, such as two .25auto caliber magazines.
All arrests were made without incident and no one was injured during the operation.
Cases will be referred to the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office or State Parole authorities for further proceedings.
