A series of misses
Firefighters from the Calfire station in Loma Rica inspect the scene where Crystal Schroeder, 25, of Browns Valley lost control of her vehicle, which rolled over and came to rest in the yard of 6058 Marysville Road Wednesday.
The vehicle ran through the front gate, narrowly missing two large oak trees.
Schroeder was wearing her seat belt, and her four-year-old daughter, Jolieona, was in a child booster seat in the back.
Schroeder says that in the split-second she realized the car had flipped on one side and the front windshield had shattered, she "said the fastest prayer I've ever said in my life," and thought that was the end for her and her daughter.
When Schroeder realized she was alive, she climbed in the back, unbuckled her daughter, and they both crawled out the rear window with only minor scratches. No one else was involved in the accident, however Schroeder says she is grateful that there were about five people at the scene very quickly to help her before CalFire and CHP arrived.
