Conservation plan for refuges released
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has completed the final Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) for the Sacramento, Delevan, Colusa and Sutter National Wildlife Refuges. The plan is now available for public review.
“The CCP outlines how the refuges will fulfill its legal purposes and contribute to the National Wildlife Refuge System’s wildlife, habitat and visitor service goals,” Kevin Foerster, Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex project leader, said in a prepared statement. “Implementation of the CCP will occur incrementally, as funding allows, for the next 15 years.”
The refuges are part of the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex and are located in Glenn, Colusa and Sutter counties. The CCP provides the framework for the Refuges to continue to restore and maintain habitat for threatened and endangered species, migratory birds and native fish, wildlife and plants.
Copies of the CCP and related findings are available online at http://sacramentovalleyrefuges.fws.gov or by contacting Jackie Ferrier, refuge planner, Sacramento NWR Complex, 752 County Road 99W, Willows, CA 95988; 934-2801. Copies of the document have also been placed in libraries in Butte, Glenn, Colusa and Sutter counties.
