Kronbergs to serve as parade leaders
Vic and June Kronberg will lead the way for floats, horseback riders and marching bands as grand marshals for the Lamb Derby parade on Saturday.
The 75th annual parade gets under way at 10 a.m. and proceeds down Sycamore Street.
The Willows residents were selected to lead the parade because of their many contributions to the community.
Both are active in the Willows Lions Club and serve on many club projects such as the annual art show and raffle for high school scholarships.
For many years the Kronbergs have donated a painting or two to the Lions Club, the Elks Scholarship Project, the Elks Crippled Children’s Project, and the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund. For the past four years, they have donated paintings for the Glenn Medical Foundation’s Splendor in the Valley event.
“The paintings add up many thousands of dollars each year,” said Lamb Derby organizer Margaret Albiston. “Any nonprofit that makes a request will get that request honored.”
June Kronberg was born and raised in Willows and has served the community in many ways besides contributing money and time to projects. She was the Willows rural mail carrier for many years. She has also helped care for the elderly and has provided transportation when needed.
The love of horses led June to help many children enjoy their 4-H Horse project. She has also ridden in many Lamb Derby parades.
Vic Kronberg was born and raised in Mt. Angel, Ore. He served in World War II as a Navy officer on the Crescent City in the Pacific. His service to the country gave him many war stories to tell his students.
Vic taught art and history and other classes at Glenn County High (Willows High School) for 34 years and at Butte College Night School for many years. He is a well-known watercolorist, and his paintings are spread far and wide.
