Input needed concerning bird-hunting regulations

A public meeting will be held to gather comments regarding migratory game bird hunting regulations for 2010 at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Wildlife Branch Conference Room, 1811 Ninth St., Sacramento. The meeting will be hosted by the Department of Fish and Game (DFG).

Information obtained at the meeting will be used to help draft an Environmental Impact Report needed to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act. This report will evaluate and disclose potential effects yearly hunting regulation changes for 2010 may have on such migratory game bird species as coots, moorhens or waterfowl.

For interested parties who can not attend the meeting, written comments may be submitted either by e-mailing mweaver@dfg.ca.gov or by regular mail, in care of Melanie Weaver, Wildlife Branch, CDFG, 1812 Ninth St., Sacramento, CA 95811. Deadline for postmarked items is Thursday, Feb. 11.

The drafted report will be released on June 3, 2010 and the final document will be certified in August 2010.
