Burley tabbed for Lamb Derby Grand Marshal

A life-long Willows resident has been named grand marshal for the upcoming 77th annual Willows Lamb Derby this spring.

Nickie Burley was named grand marshal on Saturday at the downtown Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Tehama Street.

Burley beat out five other candidates nominated by community members this year and has been nominated for the honor each of the previous three years, said Traci Torres, Lamb Derby board president.

Burley received "overwhelming" support from community nominations, Torres said.

"Nickie has been very active with both the Lamb Derby and the Chamber of Commerce in years past," Torres explained. "And she's just a really great person and well deserving of the honor."

The grand marshal helps the committee organize and sale the upcoming derby throughout the community, Torres said.
