    Summer kickoff at Lely Park

Glenn County’s high school and adult special needs community enjoyed the annual “Summer Kickoff” at Lely Aquatic Park in Orland despite cool temperatures and high winds. The outing, an educational and fun event, is the highlight of the “Building Communities through Positive Connections” program. According to Arturo Barrera, Glenn County superintendent of schools, the program is designed to promote a better environment for students and adults through encouragement, understanding and acceptance of individuals. At Thursday’s event, Anne Leahy, shown above on the left pets “Baby,” as direct care staff member Tori Castillo looks on. Orland High School student volunteer Robert Cramer assisted with the animals at the summer kickoff celebration.

I'm glad to see the will of the majority of voters was supported.
I don't agree with it. Equal rights should be for all Californians.
