Shelby club comes to Thunderhill Raceway
The Northern California Shelby American Automobile Club celebrates its 25th anniversary of its Mini-National Convention in Willows this Labor Day weekend.
The event coincides with the 15th anniversary of Thunderhill Raceway Park.
This year’s “Mini-Nats” includes a car show Friday in Sycamore Park in downtown Willows. Local entries are encouraged and can include any Ford or muscle car from the 1963-72 era. There is a $10 entry fee that includes food, drinks, music, and bounce-houses for kids. Admission to the show is free.
Willows city fire fighters will host barbeque dinner at the park at 5 p.m., Friday. Tickets are available for $15 for adults and $5 for kids, all proceeds go to the volunteer fire fighters.
Tickets and entry forms can be obtained at the Willows Chamber of Commerce at 934-8150.
On Saturday and Sunday more than 200 club racecars and car enthusiasts will be at Thunderhill Park. Local are encouraged to attend and spectator admission is free.
Anyone interested in driving his or her personal car on the track can sign up at the car show Friday. The parade laps will take place during lunch both days. No special racing gear is required for those signing up for parade laps.
