Plaskett Meadows Recreation Area closed

Plaskett Meadows Recreation Area on the Grindstone Ranger District of the Mendocino National Forest will be closed starting Monday for facility improvements. It is scheduled to reopen Oct. 1.

The closure is to protect public safety while contract work is completed at the site. Improvements include installing concrete pads and picnic tables, as well as chip sealing the road into the day use area and campground.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we complete these improvements at Plaskett Meadows,” Grindstone District Implementation Officer Paul Montgomery said. “We know it’s an inconvenience during the busy summer season, but the facility will be open in time for fall camping and recreational use.”

Violation of the closure order could result in a fine or jail term. For more information, call 934-3316 or visit www.fs.fed.us/r5/mendocino.
