Banner pole project complete

Dear Editor: On behalf of GWIL (the Greater Willows Improvement League) and the City of Willows, we are pleased to announce the recent completion of the banner pole project in downtown Willows, adjacent to the post office at Shasta and Sycamore.

The city has developed some “draft” standards to control and evaluate the banner program. We do not anticipate many changes in these standards, however if you currently possess a banner that does of does not meet these standards, please contact Public Works Director Greg Tyhurst or City Manager Steve Holsinger to arrange placement of the banner.

Although currently the Lamb Derby banner is placed downtown, immediately following this event, we plan to replace it with a Fourth of July/Fireworks Committee banner for the next upcoming special event. Thereafter, the city would appreciate an opportunity to place as many banners as possible. If you have a banner or an interest in developing one; the city would like to hear from you.

All banners will be replaced (free of charge) by city staff and following reasonable exposure for your event or group, your banner will be replaced and your Banner will be returned to you for safe keeping and future utilization. A reasonable exposure period will be contingent upon the number of requests and special events activities requiring banner placements. Therefore, a finite period has not been determined for any particular event or banner.

We welcome the opportunity to display your banner and look forward to working with your group of organization. Please contact the city representatives mentioned above with any questions you may have concerning banner placement or the draft standards which are available for your review.

Sincerely,

City of Willows, City Management & Greater Willows Improvement League
