Jackpot calendar sale starting
Beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Willows Volunteer Fire Department will go door-to-door selling the annual Jackpot calendars.
Calendars are $10 each.
On the day of Lamb Derby, and the Willows Car and Bike Show, a drawing of $250 will be awarded; as well as a $500 drawing on Dec. 31.
Calendars are also available at the Willows Fire Department, 445 S. Butte St., Willows.
Swan tours near Marysville
Guided swan tours will be held 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.-3 p.m. each Saturday this month.
It is a driving tour along a short route with very little walking required. See tundra swans, ducks, geese, cranes, shorebirds, white pelicans, herons, egrets and raptors.
Pre-registration is required at www.wildlife.ca.gov/regions/2/SwanTours. There is no fee, but donations to the California Wildlife Foundation are requested.

Toast the author is Monday
Award winning author and photographer Tim Palmer will be the featured guest at the Friends of the Colusa County Library "Toast the Author" series scheduled for Thursday at Barrel Hall of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on the corner of Fifth and Webster streets.
The social gathering starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7.
Palmer has written 22 books, primarily about the American landscape, conservation, adventure travel, and rivers.
"California Wild," which also features is photography, won the Benjamin Franklin Award for the best book on nature and the environment in 2004.
His latest book is "California Glaciers."
