Board members sought

Two openings on the Willows Police Activities League board of directors are open.

The league is a non-profit organization committed to offer the youth of Willows a wide variety of activities.

Applications are available at the Willow Recreation Department, 201 N, Lassen St., Willows.

Book sale starts

Friends of the Willows Public Library will hold a book sale through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 11 a.m. — 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Dec. 22.

Books are 50 percent off and include over 800 hard back and paperback books.

All proceeds benefit the Willows Public Library, 201 N. Lassen St., Willows.

December meeting canceled

The Dec. 20 meeting of the Northern Sacramento Valley Integrated Regional Water Management Technical Advisory Committee is canceled.

The next meeting will take place at 9 a.m. Jan. 17 at Willows City Hall, 201 N. Lassen St., Willows.

Turkey certificates available

Saint Monica's Church will donate 75 gift certificates to local needy families. The $15 ticket is good for the purchase of a turkey at Sani Food Market, from 9-10 a.m. on Dec. 21 at Willows Human Resource Agency Food Bank, 420 E. Laurel St.

Bell ringers needed

Volunteers are needed for one hour or more on to staff the Salvation Army Red Kettle on Dec. 23-24, located in front of Wal-Mart.

Last year, more than $4,000 was given at the Willows location and in the past 10 years over $18,000 has been donated.

Open Gym times scheduled

The Willows Recreation Department will supervise Open Gym at Willows Intermediate School over winter break.

The gym will be open to play basketball from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 24, 26-28, and Jan. 1-4.

Gym supervisor is Raina Arnold.
