Benefits available to Veterans
The VA has established a service-connection for Vietnam Veterans with three specific illnesses based on the latest evidence of an association with the herbicides referred to as Agent Orange. The illnesses affected by the recent decision are B cell leukemia's, such as hairy cell leukemia; Parkinson's disease and ischemic heart disease. If you or any family member has been diagnosed with any of these illnesses, please contact the Glenn County Veterans Service Office, 525 W. Sycamore St., Ste. A in Willows, 934-6524, or the County Veterans Service Office in the county in which the veteran resides.
Parents rally for sober grad raffle
Parents from the Orland, Willows, and Hamilton high schools are working with the Corning High School Parents Club - Cards in Action - to sponsor a 2010 Sober Grad Raffle.
The raffle has drawings for trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Napa and San Francisco, and for cash prizes of $500, $350 and $200.
Tickets are $20 and the drawing will be held Feb. 6.

Celebrate the winter waterfowl migration
The 11th annual Snow Goose Festival finishes this weekend in Chico. Over 50 field trips and workshops ranging out to six counties will be available, celebrating the winter waterfowl migration in the North Sacramento Valley. Listen to the alumni play
The Willows High School band and choir will present its annual Alumni, Family and Friends Concert at 7 p.m. today at the Willows Veterans Memorial Hall, 525 W. Sycamore St., Willows.
Tickets are $5 and are available from band and choir members or at the door. Children under 10 are free. "Happy Hour" will precede the concert with band members serving non-alcoholic beverages and a variety of appetizers. Separate tickets for "Happy Hour" will be sold at the door.

Everyone invited to play
The Jacinto Grange invites you to play whist and pinochle at 2 p.m. tomorrow. There will be door prizes, a raffle and snacks for a suggested donation of $4. The grange is located at 7254 County Rd. 39.
Make history with Bunco bash in Glenn County
The Ark Christian Center is sponsoring a Bunco Bash beginning at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 at 222 N. Butte St. in Willows. All proceeds will support North Valley Christian Schools' Help-a-Student program which helps enable qualifying families to attend Oak Tree Christian School or Providence Christian High School. Support students at WIS
The Eighth Grade students at Willows Intermediate School will host a Drive Thru Carnitas Dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. on Feb. 10 at St. Monica's Parish Hall in Willows. All proceeds benefit Eighth Grade graduation and activities. Tickets are $10 and are available from any Eighth Grade student.
