Family: Four children; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, Levi, who lives in Colusa. He's 6-month-old.

Hobbies and interests? I am a member of the Lord's church, so I attend Bible study. I also crochet, play guitar a little bit, not a whole lot; being with family, and whatever is spur-of-the-moment.
Favorite Thanksgiving tradition: My favorite Thanksgiving tradition would have to be the reason it was founded: Thankfulness to the Lord in how he has prospered us; making us grateful for things we've had that money cannot buy. People such as my late husband. We were married 61 years.
What Thanksgiving tradition would you like to start? Nothing new now, not at 80 years old.
What is your favorite holiday dish? Oh, goodness. It's hard for me to have just one favorite. If it's pies, pecan and pumpkin are my favorite. If it's dressing, then the cornbread dressing my husband used to make the old-fashioned way. I like baked yams, but not candied yams. Oh, and homemade cranberry sauce, one of the easiest recipes to make.
What is the strangest dish that appears on your holiday table? The green Jell-O salad my mother used to make. It was lime Jell-O with pineapple, grated carrots, and finely chopped lettuce mixed in, with chopped pecans on top. It was so pretty because of the color.
Is there a dish that you always avoid? Candied yams.
What is your favorite memory of Thanksgiving? The year my brother was over in the South Pacific. He unexpectedly came home from the Navy just before Thanksgiving. That made my whole year.
What are your thoughts on Christmas decorations going up before Thanksgiving Day? As a kid, I can remember that just wasn't done. I don't let it bother me, though, it's marketing.
Pumpkin pie: With or without whipped cream? Without whipped cream for me. Maybe with ice cream.
What are you most thankful for? I am most thankful for my health and my Lord, of course, as well as my family and my two sisters.
