Letter: Jann Reed for state Senate
Jann Reed is a reasonable, open-minded, non-partisan candidate running for a seat in the state Senate. She joined the race to give voters a choice – an alternative to LaMalfa’s heir apparent, Jim Nielsen.
Jann’s eight years on the Chico Unified School District board of trustees and three-year presidency of the board have given her a unique perspective on the state of education in California. Jann knows Sacramento is not looking out for our students.
School districts across the state are eliminating courses because the Legislature is not adequately funding K-16 education. If elected, she will work to reverse this trend. Her goal is that California recapture its national education leadership position.
Jann has managed a $100 million dollar budget (Chico Unified School District) over the last eight years. She will not shy away from the challenge of balancing the state budget. She believes the state budget should be delivered on time, that it be without gimmicks and that it reflect the will of the people for the common good.
Jann is concerned about the lack of jobs and weak economy in our state. She will work to find ways to stimulate and grow the economy – such as incentives for small businesses – and then sustain it.
Jann is married to a physician and has medical career experience. She is acutely aware of health care issues and will work to assure that good and affordable health care is accessible to every Californian.
Jann Reed is the voice of reason. She will make decisions based on good common sense not political ideology. We trust her to be our voice in Sacramento.
