Friday candidates night

The Elk Creek Grange will host a candidates night from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday.

Meet and greet the candidates running for election to the Stoney Creek Joint Unified School Board.

Refreshments will be provided by Grange Women's Activities.

Meet the author Tuesday

Local author Shari Edwards will present her new book, "Murder in Mendocino," from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday inside the Eubank room at the Willows Public Library, 201 W. Wood St., Willows.

The mystery/suspense book is the author's first work of fiction, and the cover was designed and painted by her former teacher and local watercolorist, Vic Kronberg.

Edwards has published three memoir books that reflect her life growing up in Willows, along with other personal memories.

Refreshments will be provided.

Train to run additional nights

The Glenn County Fair's annual Spook Train will run two additional nights this year, from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., Oct. 26-27, and Oct. 31.

Proceeds will be split between Trojan Boosters Club and the fairgrounds.

Tau Alpha to host bunco

The Tau Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will host bunco night, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at St. Dominic's Parish Hall, 822 A St., Orland.

Advanced tickets are $10 and are available at Shakey Shingle Antiques on Fourth and Walker streets, Orland, or from any Tau Alpha member.

Tickets are $12 at the door.

Game prizes, door prizes, and refreshments will be available.

Proceeds benefit local charities and community needs.

Flu vaccines available

Glenn County Health Services will administer free flu vaccinations clinics at the following locations:

Oct. 25: 2:30-4:30 p.m., Mill Street Elementary School cafeteria, 102 Mill St., Orland.

Nov. 1: 2:30-4:30 p.m., Murdock Elementary School cafeteria, 655 N. French St., Willows.

Nov. 8: 2:30-4:30 p.m., Hamilton City Elementary School cafeteria, 277 Capay St., Hamilton City.

Wear clothing that allows vaccination to the upper arm.
