Raise awareness of substance abuse
David Ray of Hooked on Driving is sponsoring "Racers for Recover" from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Thunderhill Raceway. Through the efforts of community partners and racers, addiction and homelessness can be combated in Glenn County. For more information, contact Sharon Darsey at 934-3095.
Steaks and Clams are on the menu
The Glenn Golf and Country Club will host a Steak and Clam Dinner with social hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 Saturday. Tickets are $30 each and only 120 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available at the golf course, 6226 County Road 39, or by calling 934-9918.
Help give back to the community
The 16th annual Knights of Columbus Portuguese Festa and Auction will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at St. Monica's Parish Hall. Presale tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, are available from any Knights of Columbus members or at the door.
Donations from the Festa and Auction are used locally to sponsor youth activities, provide scholarships for local high school students, church, community and family activities.
Lamb Derby Pizza night fundraiser
Beginning at 5 p.m. on March 16 at Round Table Pizza in Willows, the contestants for the Willows Lamb Derby pageant will host a pizza and bake sale fundraiser. Raffle tickets will also be available at $5 each for a trip to Six Flags and a spa trip.
Monday Afternoon Club scholarship
The Monday Afternoon Club of Willows will award a $300 scholarship to a senior attending Willows, Elk Creek or Princeton High School. Applicant must have taken some fine arts and/or humanities classes during both their junior and senior years. Contact the high school counseling department for application or call 934-2145 and leave your name, address and telephone number.
Sign up your children at kindergarten round-up
Registration for children entering Kindergarten for the 2010/2011 school year will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 18-19 at Murdock Elementary School, 655 French St. Children who will be five years old on or before Dec. 2 may be enrolled in kindergarten. Bring verification of birth, immunization record and the child's baby book for filling out the health history. For questions, call the school at 934-6640.
Feast at the eighth annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser
North Valley Christian Schools will hold their eighth annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser beginning at 5:30 on March 20 at Open Gate Christian Fellowship, 950 West Laurel St. in Willows. A featured auction item will be a Weatherby Vanguard 300 Magnum rifle. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 per family and may be purchased by calling the school at 865-4924 or from any student of Oak Tree Christian School or Providence Christian High School.
'Our Time to Fly'
The Third Annual Soroptimist of Orland's "Our Time to Fly" will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Orland High School Multipurpose Room. The event is free to middle school girls of Glenn county. The program includes breakfast and lunch, and guest speakers discussing self confidence, skin care, self defense, domestic violence as well as games.
