Georgiana Michael

A graveside service for Georgiana Ella Michael is scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the Artois Cemetery.

She was born in Orland on June 28, 1923 and died in Paradise on May 8, 2008 at the age of 84.

Michael was the daughter of Ernest  M. Michael and Ella Hamann Michael, both from pioneer farming families in Artois.

She graduated from Mills College in 1945 with scholastic honors and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

In her early adulthood, she was employed at Western Sample Company in Pasadena.

However, in her later years, Michael lived in Artois, Clipper Mills and Paradise.

She collected books, stamps and artifacts and did craft work. She also was a friend to those in need.

Michael is survived by several relatives in the Orland/Willows area and two cousins, Allan Thode of Murphys and Dolores Groves of Middletown.

Arrangements are under the direction of F.D. Sweet Mortuary.
