Use caution when shooting from the hip
On Dec. 13, June 5 and June 10, Mr. (Karl) Lewis graced us with his speculative thoughts regarding his discord for Mr. (Arturo) Barrera, (Glenn County superintendent of schools). In reviewing the three letters he submitted to the Orland Press-Register, I see that Mr. Lewis has borrowed Mr. Obama’s handbook of gaffes.
He has also proceeded to insult (Glenn County School Board trustee) Ms. (Catherine) Hanes – another Obama shortcoming – “I didn’t mean what I said, even though I said what I meant.” He (Mr. Lewis) now finds himself backpedaling with an apology. (“Apology for Hanes, but none for Barrera,” July 11.)
It’s obvious that Mr. Lewis is displeased with the current administration and feels that the previous one was run more to his liking. The changing of the guard is at times difficult to accept, but it happens in the real world.
I sense that bitterness has derailed Mr. Lewis’ common sense, as he lacks vital substance in the charges he’s made against Mr. Barrera and his supposed cronies. He spews a chronology of anger, insults and blanket statements that do nothing more than instill fear – but no proof that Barrera and his “mob of rabble rousers” will shipwreck the Glenn County Board of Education.
In offering a litany of concerns, one should always present proof, not innuendo.
