Wedding: Calzada-Kafader
Claudia Calzada and Dakota Kafader said their wedding vows April 12, 2008 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Willows before 200 guests. Father O’Brien performed the ceremony.
The bride walked down the aisle with her mother and father, Juana and Manuel Calzada of Willows.
Her 12-foot train was carried by her niece, Isabel Medina of Orland, and her Matron of Honor was her sister, Leslie Calzada, of Willows.
Kafader’s Best Man was his childhood friend, Tommy Brooks of Corning.
The bridesmaids were niece, Berenice Medina of Orland, cousin, Monica Calzada of Sacramento, Ana Quezada of Willows and Carla Hogan of Corning.
Groomsmen were his brothers, Bryan Kafader of La Pine, Oregon and Kris Kafader of Red Bluff, Pat Brown of Twin Falls, Idaho and Larry Jones of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Aunt and Uncle Maricela and Juan Calzada of Woodland served as witnesses. The flower girls were nieces, Samantha and Elizabeth Kafader of La Pine, Oregon and Ring bearers were niece, Breanna of Willows and cousin, Martin Calzada of Woodland. Handing out bubbles was niece, Isis Calzada of Woodland.
The reception followed in the culture hall with an authentic Mexican dinner prepared by Juana Calzada, Esther Vasquez, Fransisca Rodriguez, Concha Flores and Jesnia Calzada. Lasagna, spaghetti, potato salad and green salad were also served prepared by Donetta Jane and Misty Kafader, Lila Stokes and Stormy King.
The theme of the three-tiered wedding cake was an Oakland A’s baseball. The top of the cake had a groom wearing an Oakland A’s ball cap and holding a baseball bat.
Dakota proposed to Claudia on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the McAfee Colesium during the fourth inning on the “big’’ board while playing the New York Yankees. Donetta Kafader made the chocolate and white wedding cakes.
Toasts were given by Tommy Brooks and Uncle Felipe Calzada of Woodland with wine made by Aunt Sarah Clark, Carlos Medrano of Corning was the DJ.
Special guests of the bride were God parents, Felipe and Penelope Calzada of Woodland, great Aunt Santos Diaz of Portland, Oregon, Uncle Chon and Aunt Luisa Torres, Los Angeles, Brother and sister-in-law, Miguel and Teresa Calzada of Willows and sister and brother-in-law, Leticia and Felipe Medina of Orland.
