Family dispute ends in jail, injuries
A family squabble on Saturday ended with one man in jail and several others injured.
The altercation occurred around 10 a.m. in the 6000 block of County Road 15, the Glenn County Sheriff's Department reported.
Sheriff Larry Jones said a 25-year-old old pregnant woman called the department and reported that David James Parcell, 47, had assaulted her and was f assaulting her 50-year-old mother and her mother's 56-year-old boyfriend, with both suffering injuries.
The older man suffered a large cut across the bridge of his nose, along with numerous scratches, abrasions and a possible fractured thumb, Jones said.
Parcell also reportedly punched the pregnant woman and then punched her mother in the face several times, Jones said.
Parcell reportedly threatened to kill the boyfriend when he tried to intervene, hitting him with a tree branch and attempting to stab him with its sharp end, Jones said.
The altercation reportedly began as an argument between Parcell and the older woman because Parcell allowed goats to escape from the property while he was attempting to remove a boat on a trailer from within a fenced area.
Deputies later learned that during this fight, two small boys, ages 5 and 6, had been within very close proximately to the fight, Jones said.
Both children reported being scared that Parcell was hurting their mother and grandmother, Jones said.
Parcell was arrested on suspicion of battery and taken to Glenn Medical Center in Willows for an evidentiary blood draw.
He was later transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail on suspicion of battery on a person, threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and willful cruelty to a child.
His bail was set at $206,000.
The victims were treated by ambulance personnel at the scene, and declined any further medical attention, Jones said.
