Honkers 1-2 in Lady Trojan Classic
While the Willows High girls basketball team was able to salvage a win in the weekend's Lady Trojan Classic in Orland, coach Terri Moore is less than enthused by the Honkers' recent play. ""We are not playing good basketball, and have a lot of work to do over the break."
After beginning the tournament with a 55-43 Thursday loss to Orland (reported in Saturday's Journal), the Honkers scored a win over Mt. Shasta but lost to Durham.
Willows 36, Mt. Shasta 34
Trailing by two at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Honkers out-scored Mt. Shasta 10-8 in the final period for the comeback win.
Colleen Tade led the offense with 10 points. Lindsay Van Tol helped out with nine points and Olivia Fleming added eight.
Durham 45, Willows 30
The Honkers struggled to find the bottom of the net all game long, with their nine second-quarter points being the most they could muster.
Tade put up another 10 points, Van Tol added nine and Fleming, five.
Willows (4-7) played in Anderson Tuesday, and are then off until hosting McKinleyville Jan. 8.
