Letter: Food kitchen has grown with community support

The Willows Food Kitchen wants to show their appreciation and gratitude to Connie Prinz, staff and Curve's members for their generous donation of $669. What an enormous fundraiser they did for the Willows Food Kitchen.

The Christmas tree was absolutely beautiful and the precious colored cards with donations added an extra touch. We thank them again for choosing our program. Their donation will help provide for three weeks and that is serving once on Wednesdays. We do not have a grant or receive dollars from the federal government or the state. We go strictly by donations only. This program is open to all ages and is free.

We started this food program in January 2008 with an attendance of 17, and to date we have served over 7,000 meals. We average now from 85 to over 100 meals once a week. It is overwhelming to see the people that pass through our doors every week.

Our Food Kitchen is open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and we would like to extend an invitation for you to come down and have lunch.

Thank you again and may God bless each and every one of you.

Tom Kelly
