Wedding: Calzada-Kafader
A Willows man remains in custody today on $25,000 bail, charged with inflicting corporal injury on his ex-girlfriend.
William Billy Macek, 40, was arrested Monday night, following an argument that allegedly resulted in Macek striking his ex-girlfriend in the face with a handheld spotlight.
Deputies on Monday were dispatched to a possible domestic violence on the 6000 block of State Highway 162 in Willows.
Deputies arrived to find the 36-year-old female victim bleeding severely from a deep laceration across her nose, according to the Sheriff’s office. Officials cannot release the name of a victim of domestic violence without their consent, according to Sheriff Larry Jones.
The victim told authorities she and Macek started arguing after Macek had supposedly fallen asleep while watching their daughter. The victim claimed she was taking a shower and, when she was done, found Macek asleep and their young daughter was not there. The child was found unharmed a short time later.
The victim claimed she and Macek searched for the child with a flashlight and the handheld spotlight. After the child was located, the argument escalated and the victim alleges Macek struck her in the face with the spotlight. Investigators found the broken light on the floorboard of Macek’s vehicle.
Macek was subsequently booked into jail and served with a Glenn County Superior Court emergency protective order.
The case will be reviewed by the district attorney’s office.

| Mr. Thompson, I will guarantee you students are not leaving due to the state of the facilities or grounds at WUSD schools. The latest student leaving I'm aware of did so due to a rude, cruel WIS teacher who told the child repeatedly how stupid the child was, accused the parents of being bad parents because the lead damaged student couldn't learn at the same pace as healthier students, etc. I'd like to upgrade my home, too, but on a fixed income we can't afford it. You might have yet been a student in the late 1990's when WUSD trustees sold balance of some bonds that voters many years earlier were promised would never be sold. We're still paying that debt off and don't have a pool, heated or otherwise. |

I wanted to clarify something with regard to the facilities portion of the SARC. The portion you referenced has to do with repairs that are identified by facility staff in need of being fixed as soon as possible because they represent issues to student safety. If it isn’t a dangerous situation, the project is typically done in the summer when students are on break.
The funds to accomplish these kinds of activities are budgeted for and prioritized based on the nature and severity of the problem.
In recognition of the fact the district would never have the funding to renovate the outdated facilities to the extent needed, the bond measure was proposed.
Earlier this year it was on the ballot and wasn’t successful in my opinion because it wasn’t adequately publicized. The second time around, much more effort has been taken to inform the community of what the schools are in need of.
Without the bond, there cannot be any improvements to the sites. It could be argued that many of the students who have left WUSD have done so to attend schools that are more modern.
As to the suggestion the $20 million would free WUSD from Barrera's grasp, that will have no bearing in terms of our district's financial plight – I’m not sure where that was generated, but it is false.
While the bond measure will come with a cost to individuals in this community, I believe the cost of educating our students in substandard facilities will come with a much greater social cost to those same individuals, and to society as a whole in the long run as our children venture beyond Willows. |

| Tired of the Lies, what is your name? Mine is Penelope. Why don't you put your name out here? Have you read the SARCs for WUSD schools, specifically the facilites and maintenance portions? What fact is your comment based on? First, we're told the money is needed for health and safety issues. Now it's suggested $20 million would free WUSD from Barrera's grasp. Students are reportedly leaving WUSD in droves and enrollment is down. My vote again will be No. |

| Penelope, why do you hide behind your name? WUSD is not being dishonest. Put your real name in and serve on the oversight committee. |

| I would be more than willing to give Mr. Denton a detailed tour of the facilities Murdock Elementary. Since he is from Orland I'm not sure what good it would gain since this is our issue not their's. I'm also not sure why he feels the need come out against it when it does not affect him. I am voting for the kids and I am voting yes. |

| I'm no fan of the Dentons. My opinion is my own and is based on fact. By law, each and every year, schools must compile and make available to the public a School Accountability Report Card for each school/District, etc. As soon as WUSD and Crews started howling that the boy's bathroom at Murdock couldn't be used and a number of other health and safety issues existed at Willows' schools, I began tracking the SARC's for WUSD. At no time have "problems" been noted, other than a small water hole in the boy's BR at Murdock, fixed before school started last year, and some worn carpeting that was replaced before school began this year. WUSD officials are being dishonest somewhere in all this. I will again vote No. |

Bond money was not used for the Orland football stadium. I know that and I do not live in Orland. What did passing the bond cost you personally? For Willows the cost will be forty five dollars for every on hundred thousand dollars assessed value. That does not mean the price you can sell your home for. The cost will not go up. It is a shame that you speak of what you know not. |
