Christmas Tree permits now available

Christmas Tree permits are now available through the Mendocino National Forest. Permits are $10 each and will be sold through Dec. 18. Permits are good through Dec. 24. For more information, contact Tamara Schmidt at 934-3316.

Jimmie's Thanksgiving dinner at Elks Club

Jimmie's Free Thanksgiving Dinner will be from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Willows Elks Club, 150 S. Shasta. Everyone can attend. No charge. Donations are welcome. For information, 934-2470.

Elks, Knights host Hoop Shoot

Willows Elks Lodge No. 1786 and Saint Monica's Council No. 2054 of the Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring their Hoop Shoot competitions on Dec. 12 at the Willows Intermediate School gym. Warm-ups start at 8:30 a.m. and the contests begin at 9. All contestants at the local level must have a birth certificate and parental consent to compete. Elk Creek holds commodity distribution

USDA Commodity Distribution will be available in Elk Creek on Dec. 17 from 10:30-11 a.m. at the Elk Creek Grange. For more information, contact Catherine Hanes at 968-5243

City Hall announces holiday schedule

Willows City Hall will be closed beginning Dec. 25 through Jan. 3 and will resume normal business hours on Jan. 4. Public Safety Services will be available. For police and fire emergencies, call 9-1-1. For emergencies relating to streets, sewers or traffic signals, call 934-3323.

Arch Christian Center hosts Open House

On Dec. 5, Arch Christian Center will host its annual Christmas Open House immediately following the lighting of the town Christmas tree after the Light Parade. Located steps from where the tree will be lit, hot dogs, chili, nachos, popcorn, hot chocolate and cider will be provided for free.
