Letter: Vaccination effort at Butte a rousing success
Glenn County residents have every reason to take pride in their county health department.
On Dec. 8, Glenn County Public Health teamed up with Butte County Public Health at the Butte College Campus to help vaccinate the campus community against seasonal and H1N1 influenza. It was a textbook exercise in mass immunization.
Under the leadership of Director of Nurses Grinnell Norton, pretty much every member of the Glenn County Health Department staff of nurses and managers joined us for this historic joint mass vaccination effort. To have both Glenn and Butte County Health Departments collaborating with Butte College was remarkable. The focus was the campus community, 30 percent of whom are Glenn County residents.
On behalf of the Butte Glenn Community College District and the Butte College Student Health Services, I want to thank Grinnell Norton and her staff of wonderful professionals at the Glenn County Health Department for the community commitment and collaboration in this effort. All of us are safer and better informed thanks to their unselfishness.
