Glenn County Sheriff Log: Aug. 3-4

4:50 a.m. Anonymous report of a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of the Holly Sugar plant, Walsh and First streets. Deputy checked the grounds; unable to locate.

5:54 a.m. Glenn County Jail staff report an inmate found hanging in his cell. Ambulance and fire personnel responded and started CPR. Inmate Jessie Contreras was transported to Glenn Medical Center by ambulance and later flown to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.

9:01 a.m. Steve Brown from the Orland Unit Water Users reported irrigation valves opened on two ditches in the area of County Roads H and 3 and County Roads M and 20, causing minor flooding. No permanent damage was cause; the incident was documented.

Aug. 3

3:03 a.m. A disoriented elderly male reportedly wandered away from his home to a location in the 7000 block of County Road 32 ½. The subject’s brother was contacted and returned the man home.

9:45 a.m. Citizen reports two vehicles and several people in the alley between Fourth and Fifth streets and Wood and Cherry streets. Gustavo Ambriz was contacted and advised he was hooking up his disabled vehicle for towing to Maxwell.

2:45 p.m. Hector Chavera, 42, called requesting information on evicting a tenant who has not paid rent. A deputy responded to Chavera’s mother’s residence on the 300 block of Sacramento Ave. in Hamilton City. Information on eviction was provided, and Chavera was found to have three outstanding warrants. Chavera was arrested and transported to the Glenn County Jail.

5:58 a.m. Enloe Medical Center in Chico reported a possible altercation involving a 16-year-old patient. A deputy met the teen at his residence and determined he had been assaulted near Orland High School.

8:14 p.m. A deputy was detailed to investigate a 911 hangup call from a residence in the Bayliss area. The 85-year-old woman stated she was fine. She tried to turn up the volume on her phone and accidentally hit the emergency button.
