Hydro Jets host Swim-A-Thon

Dear Editor:

We are writing to you on behalf of the Willows Hydro Jets swim team. We have been a part of this community for over 35 years as a competitive youth swim team with USA swimming. We have about 70 seasonal swimmers and 15 year round swimmers. These kids are aged 4-18 and compete all over California and even around the country. We are a non-profit, parent run swim team that has always relied on the commitment of community members like you to help our swimmers achieve their potential.

One of our largest fund raisers this year will be a USA Swimming Swim-a-Thon. Each of our swimmers will be gathering pledges for laps swam. The money they raise will be used throughout the year for training equipment, pool costs and coaching staff. This fundraiser allows our team to keep membership costs down so we are able to reach many more in our community. This fundraiser was widely supported by community members in years past and we are excited to restart an old tradition. We hope with your support, this year will be a great success.

We are asking for contributions so that each swimmer will receive a reward for their hard work. These contributions can be in any orm. Examples are, but not limited to, t-shirts, caps, gift certificates, cash donations, or store merchandise of your choice. We would appreciate any donation you could make to help keep our swimmers in the water and having fun in their own community.

A majority of all pledges will stay in the Willows community with only five percent going to USA Swimming for administrative purposes. All donations will stay in the community. We are working with our local Chamber of Commerce and will be donating a portion of all pledges collected by our swimmers to Willows’ Fourth of July celebration committee. Any donations made are tax deductible and can be mailed to the address noted above. We are also happy to pick up any donations at your convenience. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Nekki Bateman, Swim-A-Thon chair, at 934-8581. We look forward to your generosity in helping our kids succeed. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Nekki Bateman
