Letter: 'Kind, giving community' thanked
Recently, three community members, Mrs. Brott, Mrs. Otterson and Mrs. Mudd, got together and planned something wonderful to support our community's children. With budget crunches at home and school, the classrooms of Murdock Elementary were struggling to meet needs for basics like pencils, Kleenex tissue, glue, crayons, etc. They created a program called "Christmas for Classrooms." They set up Christmas Giving Trees around the community. On each tree were tags that showed a classroom's wish, and the community responded!
Throughout the months of December and January, Murdock's teachers received an assortment of donations. Most were basics that were so much needed. Some folks also included gift cards so teachers could buy a specific needed item. Smiles were abundant as each day new gifts came in. Teachers and students are loving the useful (and much needed) materials, but the feeling of being supported and cared about has been the greatest gift.
On behalf of the teachers of Murdock Elementary, we'd like to publicly thank all of you who have contributed to this project. Your generosity is extremely appreciated. The children are enjoying their new supplies so much. Again, thank you for being such a kind and giving community.
