Scarecrow contest today
The fourth annual Willows Recreation Department's Scarecrow Contest will be held from 10:30-2:30 p.m. today at Southern Pacific Park on Tehama Street, just east of Bank of America.
Bring your scarecrow and the family. There are no entry forms or fees.
Pumpkin sales, face painting, food booths, prizes and more will be available.
Scouts host pork loin dinner
The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will hold their annual pork loin dinner from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Willows Elk's Lodge, 150 S. Shasta St.
Meal includes barrel-cooked pork loin, rice, applesauce, salad and bread for $10 for adults, or $5 for children under 12.
Take-out available.
Platinum Club meets Thursday
Barbara Rydgren, Glenn Medical Center's Director of Health Information Management, will present "Ensuring your Health Information Integrity" for the Platinum Club meeting, 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Thursday at the large conference room at Glenn Medical Center, 1133 W. Sycamore St., Willows.
A breakfast buffet will also be available.

Hot dog fundraiser is Thursday
A Senior Nutrition Program hot dog fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. — 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Sani Food Market, 517 S. Tehama St., Willows.
Sponsored by Sani Food, your $2.50 donation includes a hot dog, chips and drink. Proceeds go directly to the Willows Nutrition Home Meal Delivery program.
Town hall meeting set
A town hall meeting to discuss the state's fire prevention fee will be held from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Redding Library Community Room, 1100 Parkview Ave., Redding.
State Assemblyman Jim Nielsen, former Sen. Doug LaMalfa, and David Wolfe, legislative director for the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association will attend.

Annual dinner dance slated
The Willows Chamber of Commerce and Willows Volunteer Fire Department will host their annual Steak and Lobster Dinner and Dance beginning with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at St. Monica's Parish Hall, 1129 W. Wood St., Willows.
Cost is $40 per person, pre-sale tickets only.
